Support Worcester Samaritans

How can you support us

Apart from being a volunteer with Samaritans there are many other ways in which you could support us. As an individual you could help raise awareness of Samaritans by placing one of our car stickers in your vehicle, or come along to one of our many fundraising events through the year.

If you run or manage a business, shop, or public service in Worcester and the surrounding areas and would be willing to display a Samaritans Poster in your premises then please contact us by phone on 01905 21121, or write to us at our address; details on our Contact Page

Do you have a business or organisation publication/magazine/flyer that we could advertise in? Please email our Publicity Office with details of your publication and they will contact you.

A link to our web site from your web site could help raise awareness of our services to the many people who use the internet regularly.

If you would like to help us raise funds then we can provide you with a collection tin to display in your business or shop. These can be obtained by either phoning our branch on 01905 21121, or by emailing friends@worcestersamaritans.org.uk with your details.

We always welcome ideas from individuals and businesses who would like to help raise funds for us by, for example, doing a sponsored event. If this appeals to you or your business/organisation then please contact us, with your details and ideas, on 01905 21121 and one of our volunteers will contact you to discuss your idea, and how we can help you.

Make a donation and you could help change someone's life.

It can take a lot for someone to call Samaritans

They may have gone through so much; suffered for many years and may feel they are at the end of the road. They often feel they can not cope with life any longer. They may have gone through years of depression, loneliness, stress or abuse. They could be trying to cope with an unexpected event in their life, such as a marriage break up, loss of a loved one or facing the loss of their job with all the financial and emotional burdens that carries.
Whatever the reason it is vital that when the moment comes and they call us, whatever the time day or night and even on Christmas Day, we are there to listen.

To do this we need your support to help keep our phone lines open, especially during this time of recession. We receive no Government support and rely solely on donations to keep our branch open; to keep our phone lines available for that crucial time when someone needs to talk in complete confidence. It doesn't matter how large or small your donation is, every penny counts and if you are a UK tax payer you can increase the value of your donation to us through Gift Aid.

Each call we took last year cost us £1.48 in total (all running costs included) and we received over 27,000 calls. None of our volunteers are paid which helps keep our costs down. If they were paid £10 per hour it would cost over £200,000 in wages alone for our branch and it would have cost almost £9 to take each call we received.
