Worcester Samaritans Outreach

Our Aims

The Outreach team of Samaritans aim to let everyone know about the support and services we provide. We strongly believe that everyone should be aware that there is someone there who is available to listen to them 24 hours a day. We believe that the ability to explore feelings, in confidence, can be a great comfort during times of emotional stress.

Our Services

There are many areas of outreach work that people in general are not aware of. For example, we can go into schools to let young people know about the service we provide. This could take the form of an assembly presentation or we can also offer the DEAL (Developing Emotional Awareness and Learning) programme to schools. The DEAL programme is designed to promote emotional health and wellbeing of young people aged 14 – 16 years. It aims to challenge the stigma surrounding emotional health problems, to help young people develop healthy coping skills and finally it aims to promote knowledge of sources of support along with improving attitudes towards help-seeking.

Our Outreach team can also put on a talk at any organisation that could benefit from being aware of the services we provide. These can be helpful, and informative, to a wide range of organisations.

Outreach Events

Our Outreach team also take part in various events in and around Worcester to promote awareness of Samaritans and the services we provide. This year Worcester’s Outreach team took part in the High Five event held at Sanders Park in Bromsgrove on Sunday 11th July 2010. We also attended Worcester College of Technology Freshers’ Fair held at the Guildhall in Worcester High Street on Monday 20th September 2010.
We have other events that we plan to attend in the future, and hope to add to this list and attend as many as possible in and around Worcester.
